Obama, the Sphinx and the Silent Talk

After the U.S. president Barack Obama had delivered his worldwide air broadcast historic speech to the Muslim world which greatly impressed the attendants who could not help applauding out of their admiration of Obama’s charisma mingled with sharp intelligence , cunningness , simplicity , accuracy and calm .he then went to closely observe , with the accompany of the famous Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass , the greatness of the seven thousand year old Pharaonic civilization exemplified in the Pyramids and their honest guard the Sphinx.

The Obama is the first state head to visit the burial chamber of the pharaoh “Cheops”, owner of the great pyramid despite being at a distance of 70 meters underground. That room which makes the visitor from the very beginning feels that he is surrounded by hidden mysterious forces stemming from that King who built a civilization deemed one of the world seven wonders which conceal million secrets that have still been under investigation.

The U.S. president, then, moved to the pyramids honest guard or the “Sphinx” which seems to be a guard of the city of the dead. The statue was glorified by the Ancient Egyptians thousands years ago and considered a form of the Sun god. They also erected a memorial for it named “Ma’et” meaning the stable justice…Meanwhile, a flurry of questions occurred to mind: why did Obama stop for long at the Sphinx feet? Was the reason inherent in being impressed by the remarkable way of Hawass in narrating the story of King Tuhotmos IV inscribed at the gate of dreams? Or did he recall Egypt‘s history for moments and begin to think about the secret of the Sphinx withstanding in the face of the French commander Napoleon Bonaparte missiles?

Next, the U.S. president gracefully ascended the steps leading to the Sphinx head standing there for minutes and kept staring at the statue from every direction until Obama’s eyes met directly with that of the Sphinx as if he were saying: “Everybody make his history”.

The American tourists coming to Egypt amounted to about 319 thousand tourists a year and I wish as all the Egyptians do, that Obama's visit helps promote the Egyptian tourism and encourage more U.S. visitors as well as others all over the world to come to Egypt and see its rare archaeological treasures.. And not only Egypt tops the whole world concerning its great long history, it also gains the tourist‘s confidence regardless of nationality and religion stressing undoubtedly the saying that Egypt is the place of safety and security forever.
