5 years have passed since the start of Egypt’s one-of- a-kind motorcycle and scooter rally, Cross Egypt Challenge. This October, the sixth season of the famous rally took place in a continuous effort to promote tourism and to prove that Egypt is safe for travels.

The 2016 season of Cross Egypt Challenge started on October 20th and lasted for 10 days. The new season included 9 stages that compromise a total distance of 3,000 km, the longest route in the history of the challenge to date.

The Cairo Marriott is the official hotel sponsor having their very own branded scooter joining the challenge! For the third year in a row, Cairo Marriott chooses to support Cross Egypt Challenge year after year because of its eagerness to promote the destination; Egypt.

The press conference announcing the challenge was held in the prestigious Aida Ballroom at the hotel. A German Engineer, a father, and a business owner for 15 years, Stefan Hauser and his wife Annette Hauser have decided to tour the world when they sold their own business back in 2013. Both 45 years old at the time, they thought this would be the best time to start their adventure after sending their only child to college. Stefan decided to join Cross Egypt Challenge 2016 and was present at the press conference wehre he shared his experience with the crowd.This season also included riders from: USA, Australia, United Kingdom, India, Denmark, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Austria, Italy, Palastine and Egypt.

The challenge began from the Mediterranean's largest seaport city, Alexandria then headed south to the capital Cairo en route and rode the Nile Valley and the Egyptian western desert to Minya on the shore of the River Nile then went to the ancient city of Luxor, the world's largest open air museum city, and the capital of Ancient Egypt.
