Rocks reducing the temperature of the Earth

Rocks reducing the temperature of the Earth

Scientists have discovered some kind of rocks can absorb carbon dioxide causing Global Warming and thus help slow down the rising temperature on Earth.

The two researchers peter Kelemen and Jorge Mater said that this natural process has an energy that can be increased a million time to develop minerals under earth. These minerals could store permanently two billion tons or more of the thirty billion tons of carbon dioxide emitted annually by human activity.

The gas turns to a solid substance like calcite or amorphous Calcium carbonate when Carbon dioxide touches these rocks that are known as periodotite.

Periodotite is a volcanic rock and is the most common rock found in the layer immediately located beneath the crust.

Periodotite also appears on the earth surface especially in Oman sultanate, situated near the region producing large amounts of Carbon dioxide while producing fossil fuels.
