There are no limitations of what painters can paint inside bottles using sand. Such paintings include names, pictures and landscapes. The tools required are simple such as a cone, a spoon for entering sand into the bottle, a piece of wire for making the different details of the painting.
The sands used herein are white and were taken from the western desert. They are either artificially coloured or naturally coloured but in all circumstances, fine sands have to be used so that the painter can paint easily.
Hussein, a sand painter says that he does not take more than ten minutes to accomplish on painting inside bottles. There are many sand painting professionals scattered everywhere in Egypt, mostly in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. Each of them makes his own creations attracting the Arab and foreign tourists.
Pictures that are most commonly required by customers are generally "camel", the "coral reefs" and "landscapes", this is apart from writing names and various expressions. Moreover, that art extends to include not only decoration tools, presents and souvenirs, but wedding and birthday invitations as well.
It is worth mentioning that one painting costs between 10 and 100 LE for Egyptians, but tourists have other prices.
