A Sharp Fall in the Number of Chinese Tourists Travelling Abroad

A Sharp Fall in the Number of Chinese Tourists Travelling Abroad

A Chinese newspaper stated that the number of Chinese tourists travelling abroad has significantly retreated due to the citizens‘s concerns about swine flu.

Changh Chingh, Marketing Director at "China comfortable for travel services" company said that tours to the destinations favoured by mainland travellers such as Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, USA, Europe, Australia and South-East Asia, witnessed a decline.

Chingh pointed out that the reduction in the number of tourists was so heavy that she does not want to give any figures asserting that travels to all foreign destinations almost witnessed a significant retreat although many of these places have not so far recorded a swine flu case.

Chiao Hong, managing director of China International Travel Agency declared that the number of mainland citizens signed contract with the company for making tours in Hong Kong fell about 80% in the first two weeks of May.

The spread of swine flu forced tour companies to obligatorily suspend their employees from working as statistics showed that nearly 40% of tourist guides stopped working because of their fear of swine flu.
