The mother of nuns as she known in Coptic and the woman who thought European hygiene and cleanliness، whose name means "good fruit".

It's Saint Verena and she dated back to the third century as she born in 267AD, in the upper Egypt village of garagoius and this was at the time of the Roman Catholic pagan king Diocletian and at this time there was no tolerance for Christians, the Christians were burned alive in clay incinerators.

Verena was known for her skills in herbal medicine, so in 286 AD she was ordered to join a medical battalion travelling to Europe by emperor maximian , and at this time they were travelling for fighting unrest in Switzerland, so she was chosen to assist the combat battalions, and the Egyptian battalion was consisted of 6,600 soldier in addition to some nurse who Verena was one of them.

but during this time they were asked to pay their respect to the pagan deities, but they refused that because it was against their beliefs as Christians.

She choose Alps to live in a cave with other young women accompanied her from Egypt after all the men were killed as a result for refusing them to pay their respect to the deities and she was let go.

she started from here to thought women hygiene practices, healthcare, and her knowledge in herbal medicine. She thought them too to used "flay" to comb their hair to eliminate insects.

She have a statue in a bridge between Switzerland and Germany holds a comb in one hand and a jar for water in the other hand.

Switzerland annually celebrates the anniversary of her death on an official holiday in the country. She died in September 331 AD and the swiss build a church for her in the site of her death. In 1986 a swiss delegation came to Egypt with the remains of Saint Verena and they placed in the Egyptian church in Cairo. There are 70 church in Switzerland bear her name, and 30 in Germany.

She had died, but still have her effect on the European civilization.
