Egypt, Bosnia sign MoU to strengthen tourism cooperation

Egypt, Bosnia sign MoU to strengthen tourism cooperation

The meeting, attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Sarajevo Walid Haggag, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Youssef, and Deputy Ambassador Wael Sheeha, culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding to expand joint tourism initiatives and increase tourist flows.

Fathy stressed Egypt’s commitment to advancing ties with Bosnia and Herzegovina, deeming tourism as a pivotal driver of economic growth and a catalyst for cultural exchange.

He highlighted opportunities for investment, joint promotional campaigns, fame trip or familiarization trip, tourism caravans, and training programs, as well as the exchange of expertise in marketing and human capital development.

He also outlined the ministry’s promotional strategy and its international campaign "Egypt… A Unique Diversity", which used modern tools, such as artificial intelligence, noting the sector’s impressive performance in 2024 and significant growth in early 2025.

Kosarac voiced interest in boosting tourism ties, highlighting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tourist attractions and its upcoming participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade.

He welcomed Egypt’s planned temporary antiquities exhibition during the event, calling it a significant promotional opportunity, and invited Egypt to take part in the 2026 Sarajevo Film Festival, an invitation Fathy accepted.

The talks also addressed bilateral cooperation in tourism and hospitality training.

Ambassador Haggag described the memorandum as a significant step forward in bilateral relations, which are gaining momentum on all levels.

At the close of the meeting, Fathy invited Kosarac to visit Egypt, an invitation warmly welcomed by the Bosnian side.
